Training Scheme: The primary initiative is the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS), introduced in 1950. Training durations vary from six months to two years across more than 130 different specialties. Upon completion, trainees undertake the All India Trade Test (AITT), and successful candidates receive the National Trade Certificate (NTC). ? Eligibility Criteria: Prerequisites for ITI courses range from completion of 8th to 12th grade, depending on the specific trade. ? Admission Process: Admissions are typically conducted annually in August. Candidates may need to pass entrance examinations or meet merit-based criteria, depending on the state's guidelines and the specific ITI. Trades Offered: ITIs offer a diverse range of trades, categorized into Engineering and Non-Engineering fields. Examples include: ? Engineering Trades: Electrician, Fitter, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Turner, and Welder (Gas and Electric) ? Non-Engineering Trades: Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA), Dress Making, Fashion Design and Technology, Stenographer & Secretarial Assistant (English), and Surface Ornamentation Techniques (Embroidery) Post-Completion Opportunities: After obtaining the National Trade Certificate, individuals can: ? Apprenticeship Training: Engage in apprenticeship programs across various industries to gain hands-on experience. The typical duration is one year for ITI graduates, during which trainees receive a monthly stipend. ? Lateral Entry to Polytechnic Diploma Engineering: ITI graduates can pursue a Polytechnic Diploma in Engineering, with the possibility of direct entry into the second year of the diploma course, subject to qualifying entrance examinations like VOCLET.
